G42 Joins AVI at Thompson

As we were closing out February and looking towards the spring, “track season” was top of mind. After a long winter of car covers and simulator laps, we were all itching to pull our cars off the lifts and haul the trailers down to Thompson Speedway for a proper rip.

Rolling into the Paddock

On arrival, it was immediately clear that this was no average track day at Thompson Motorspeedway. The caliber of cars was absolutely staggering. I suppose that is to be expected when AVI, Lamborghini Boston, and Garage 42 join forces for an event.

Hitting the Track

After a very clear and well-organized drivers' meeting from Jon, Group 1 suited up and rolled onto a fresh track. After they came in without incident, Group 2 followed, and Group 3 succeeded them. This is how the day rolled through from 8AM to 4:30PM. This group of drivers lapped the track for 8 hours with only a single instance of someone going 4-off into the grass. I think the key to this statistic was the environment that Jon and Safi created. The event wasn't about lap times or competition, it was about comradery and shared enjoyment through-and-through. Not once did I hear someone mention deltas or splits, comments stuck to the beauty of the cars cutting down the front straight and the soundtrack that these exotics let loose on the tarmac of Thompson.

Just because the day was technically uneventful doesn't mean it wasn't an absolute dream. The weather could not have been more ideal, sitting at 68 degrees and sunny all through the afternoon. Safi gave ride-alongs on track all through the afternoon, gifting everyone the experience of Revuelto pinned wide-open down the front straight. The Fleet-71 LFA gifted us all with the heavenly note of its Lexus V10 and Chris' 458 tore a hole in our chests with its barking Ferrari V8. Around noon we enjoyed a catered lunch of Thai noodles, beef, and chicken that put all other track meals to shame, and everyone returned to socialize with like-minded people as their peers resumed turning laps in the background. What more can you ask for?

We want to extend a tremendous thank you to Jon and Safi at AVI for giving our G42 customers special access to the event, and Lamborghini Boston for providing breakfast, coffee, and for selling that Revuelto to Safi! Thank you to all of our members that came out to drive with us. You know who you are; we never get tired of spending time with you. Until the next one! Palmer in September anyone?
